Does humidity affect epoxy floor installation?
Short answer
Yes, substantially. Resin coatings cure by chemical reaction, and both humidity and slab temperature change how that reaction runs. High humidity can affect surface appearance and cure, and coating a slab whose temperature is near the dew point risks moisture condensing on the surface exactly as the coating goes down.

Cure is a chemical reaction, not drying
A resin coating does not dry the way paint does. Two components react and cross-link into a solid, and the rate of that reaction depends on temperature. Ambient humidity interacts with it as well, differently for different chemistries.
This is why "it was a nice day" is not the same as "conditions were right." The relevant measurements are slab temperature, air temperature, relative humidity and the resulting dew point.
The dew point problem
If the slab surface is at or below the dew point, moisture condenses on it. Coating over that puts a film of water between the resin and the concrete, at the exact interface where bond is supposed to happen.
A concrete slab holds temperature and lags behind the air, so a slab can sit below the dew point on a morning that feels perfectly pleasant. Measuring it is the only way to know.
Heat and the working window
Houston summers cut the other way as well. Fast-cure polyaspartic topcoats react faster as temperature rises, so the time available to spread and work the material evenly shrinks.
On a large floor that is a real risk of visible lap marks and inconsistency. It is managed by scheduling, crew size and product selection rather than by working faster.

- Polyaspartic
- An aliphatic polyurea coating chemistry used as a clear topcoat. Being aliphatic, it is UV stable, which is why it goes on top of an epoxy base rather than the other way round. It also cures quickly, which shortens return-to-service but narrows the window an installer has to work the material.

- Water vapor moving upward through a concrete slab from the soil beneath it. If the surface is sealed, pressure can build under the coating and lift it osmotically. Recognised test methods are ASTM F1869 (anhydrous calcium chloride) and ASTM F2170 (in-situ relative humidity probes).
